Ciao Lucia is a California based label created with the girl on eternal vacation in mind. Inspired by places like the French Riviera and the Amalfi Coast, the collection references vintage silhouettes like high waisted bikini bottoms, Victorian blouses, and tortoiseshell buttons.
Fabrics are often selected by asking the question “what would be great to throw in a suitcase”. The line is very nostalgic to designer Lucy Akin because when she was little, Italian graphic design became one of her passions – she collected vintage postcards from Italy and all the old liquor posters for Cointreau and Martini. This love of Europe and travel brought her to college where she insisted on studying abroad 4 times – Cannes, Rome, Paris, and London, and while studying in Rome, she got the nickname Lucia. After working in fashion and traveling non-stop to various fashion weeks, traveling became one of her biggest passions. And she wanted to design a line that was perfect for just that.
