1914

Tom Reid opens Kerrisdale Dry Goods on 41st Avenue across the street from the current Hill’s of Kerrisdale store location.

1945

James Hill’s father, John Hill, purchases Tom Reid’s secondary Dry Goods location in Marpole. James works with his father at Reid’s Dry Goods while pursuing his education and by the age of 23 James takes the reins of running his family business.

1960

James and his brother Forbes purchase Kerrisdale Dry Goods and move their business back to the original Kerrisdale location renaming their new store Hill’s of Kerrisdale. Today, Hill’s of Kerrisdale remains a cornerstone in its community and Vancouver’s retail landscape.

2015

Hill’s Dry Goods opens its first location in a restored historic building on 4th Avenue in the heart of Kitsilano. Hill’s Dry Goods carries on James Hill’s uncompromising vision, reflecting the history of Hill’s of Kerrisdale through the eyes of the next generation.

2019

Hill’s Dry Goods now calls three locations home including its original Kitsilano flagship, South Granville, and Park Royal.
