We admire Nala for how its founders turned a deeply personal and emotional experience into a meaningful lesson for all of us. Born out of a profound family loss, Nala represents the intersection of personal care, conscious living, and beautiful, sensorial design.
Below, we share our recent conversation with Ada Juristovski Jemc, who co-founded Nala Care with her mother, Radmila Juristovski-Bosnic. After losing her father, Alan, to cancer, Ada and her mother Radmila leveraged their backgrounds in biotech, engineering, and technology to create a product line with a genuine positive impact: completely free from negative side effects and full of possibility.
Q&A: What trends are you loving for Fall?
I’m loving the mixing of patterns and textures, deep jewel tones, and all the brown! This season feels preppy and playful.

What’s your favourite local spot for a bite?
Nala HQ is in the heart of Mount Pleasant, and we are lucky to have so many delicious places nearby. La Fabrique St. George for a glass of wine and DIY charcuterie after work, Como Taperia for tapas, and ELEM for something a bit more elevated.
What are you reading right now?
I typically have 2–3 books on the go between a paperback and an audiobook. Right now, I’m listening to Mother Mary Comes to Me by Arundhati Roy and reading A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan. I gravitate towards fiction, especially for physical reading. It’s my favorite form of escapism from everyday life.
What is your go-to snack?
Dried mangoes, peanut butter on top of whatever I have on hand, a little Babybel moment, and cappuccinos counted as a food category.
Favourite scent?
Lately, I’ve been drawn to combinations of citrus paired with something unexpected. My cleaning spray is tangerine with peppermint, rosemary, and fennel; my deodorant is Nala’s Grapefruit & Neroli (with notes of basil and black peppercorn); and I’m currently wearing Ffern’s Summer 26 blend of clementine, green mandarin, vetiver, carrot seed, and jasmine. They all feel like quintessential transitional scents as we head into Fall.
Going Au Natural with Nala Care
We love getting to know the people behind the products on our shelves. It’s easy to evaluate a product at face value, but all too often the human story behind it is omitted - even when it is the most essential part. In Ada’s case, the catalyst for founding Nala Care was losing her father. Out of that loss, she and her mother built Nala as a devotion to self-care, compassion, and the urgent necessity for body care products completely free of harmful carcinogens.

Making the switch to natural body care isn't just a trend - it's a meaningful shift for long-term health. Every ingredient in Nala Care's deodorant line is non-toxic, plant-derived, or mineral-based. To ease the transition to a natural deodorant, Nala Care developed a specialized Detox Deodorant formulated with peppermint and charcoal to gently draw out residue left behind by conventional antiperspirants. The typical transition period lasts about four weeks, during which it is common to experience a temporary increase in sweat and odor as your body recalibrates. Using a detox formula supports the natural release of bacteria from underarm tissues and helps regulate body odor over time.
As your body adjusts, excess moisture and odor will naturally subside. If you need extra protection during the transition, try applying the Detox Deodorant before bed. Once fully transitioned, your body will regulate sweat naturally, keeping you fresh throughout the day.
Beyond their thoughtful ingredient choices, Nala Care applies the same thoughtful approach to their packaging footprint. The outer box is made from recyclable, FSC-certified paper, while the inner tube utilizes 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, ensuring zero virgin plastic is used. Once your deodorant is finished, simply detach the lid and bottom component, rinse the interior, reassemble, and place it directly into your plastic recycling bin for pickup.
